The museum uses modern technology to show an original reason archaic custom in its diversity!

In 2010 UNESCO declared the Imst Scheme running an Intangible Cultural Heritage!
In addition, Imst Fasnacht 2012 was the first Austrian custom to be included in the "Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity".
The museum uses modern technology to show an original, basically archaic custom in its diversity. It has been awarded the Museum Prize of the Province of Tyrol 2003 and the Austrian Museum Quality Seal. By means of film projections, the dynamics of this custom becomes clear. Film excerpts from the early 1930s to the present allow the visitor to participate in movement, primal strength, rhythm, but also in the mystery of the mask process.
Sophisticated slideshows with photos from a period of one hundred years show the history and present of Fasnachtstreibens. Sound and text collages provide insight into the background and various preparations for the events in Imst, such as the carving of the wooden masks and the construction of carnival carriages. Old and new masks complete the exhibition and impressively document the magical fascination of the Schemenlaufens at Fasnacht in Imst.
